Curt Blankenship

Concert hall and facilities manager
Phone: (804) 828-4019
E-mail: cbblanke@vcu.edu
Office: Singleton Center, Room 150

Curt Blankenship is concert hall and facilities manager for the VCU Department of
Music. As such, he manages the Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall and the facilities for the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, as well as the James W. Black Music Center. He is a 1984 graduate of the VCU Department of Theatre, where he earned his B.F.A. degree.

Prior to working for VCU, Blankenship served the greater Richmond community as a production manager at Backstage Inc., with Fred and Joan Brumbach, the late Joe Bristow and Cameron Grainger. He handled all aspects of “putting on a show.” He also toured nationally with Barksdale Theatre’s “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”

His recordings of VCU Music concerts can be heard from time to time on NPR’s “Performance Today.” The faculty, staff and students of VCU Music look to Blankenship for support regarding their many performances, class scheduling and special concert and event logistics. Considered by many at VCU Music to be the backbone of the department, he prefers to remain unseen, anonymous and backstage.

Any moments away from VCU are enjoyed with his wife and two daughters.
