Jay BeVille holds a Bachelor of Music Education from VCU and a Master of Music from Boston University. His teaching career spans 37 years and he is currently retired from Hanover County Public Schools, where he last served as a performing arts specialist for the school division.

Since 2002, BeVille has led the Williamsburg Choral Guild as artistic director and conductor in over 25 full-length masterworks and numerous other choral selections, representing a wide array of choral literature. In 2011, he oversaw the creation of the Williamsburg Youth Chorale which regularly performs with the Williamsburg Women’s Chorus and Williamsburg Choral Guild.

In Sept. 2009, BeVille prepared the Children’s Chorus in Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana for the Richmond Symphony Orchestra season premier, performed at the newly-renovated Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage. BeVille has worked as a soloist and choral singer under the batons of several well-known conductors and composers, including Norman Dello Joio, Thomas Dunn, Dale Warland and George Manahan. He serves as adjunct faculty in choral music and music education for VCU and Old Dominion University, and is an active clinician, adjudicator and guest conductor.
