Music culture in Richmond
The city of Richmond is bursting with cultural opportunities and VCU’s location in the heart of the Fan district makes it easy for VCU students to take advantage of these cultural offerings.
The Richmond Symphony performs regularly in the Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall, as well as venues throughout the Richmond area, and students are offered significantly discounted tickets to each performance. The Virginia Opera, Richmond Ballet and Modlin Center for the Arts at the University of Richmond also offer diverse arts programming to Richmond and the surrounding areas.
In addition, jazz clubs, churches and university and private functions provide ample performance opportunities for music students at VCU.
