VCU Symphony

The VCU Symphony is the premiere orchestral ensemble at VCU. It is primarily staffed by 60 music majors. Full-scale orchestral works, such as Stravinsky’s “The Firebird” and Dvorak’s “New World Symphony,” are frequently performed in this ensemble. The VCU Symphony performs two concerts each semester, holds a tour once a year and collaborates with VCU Opera each spring in the production of a full opera. In January 2012, the orchestra will perform a side by side concert Ensemble
Appassionata, a professional chamber orchestra based in Montreal.
To play in the orchestra, an audition is required.
