Commonwealth Singers
Commonwealth Singers is a select choir of 45 to 50 singers chosen from throughout the university and are known for their sensitive and dynamic performances of a wide variety of choral repertoire, spanning Renaissance to present day. They have performed for both the Virginia Music Educators Association State Conference and the American Choral Directors Association Southern Division Conference.
Most recently they toured China, performing “A Mid-Atlantic Choral Tribute to the 2008 Olympics” with concerts at the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing and the Oriental Arts Center in Shanghai. In addition, the ensemble performed smaller concerts at the Great Wall and Fudan University, one of VCU’s 16 partner institutions.
The group performs regularly on campus and throughout the Richmond area and has made performance tours in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and northern Virginia.
