The VCU Symphonic Wind Ensemble Concerto Competition
The SWE Concerto Competition is open to students from the following areas:
- Woodwinds
- Brass
- Percussion
Students must receive a recommendation from a member of their studio's faculty in order to audition.
Competition
The competition will be held on Wednesday, November 7, beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall. One winner will be selected by a panel of judges. The final result will be announced at the conclusion of the auditions.

Concert
The winner(s) will perform his/her concerto (or one movement, depending on the length) with the VCU Symphonic Wind Ensemble at its concert on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 7 p.m. in the Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall.
Regulations
Eligibility
Any full-time student enrolled in a private lesson for the fall 2012 semester is eligible to compete. The winning student must be enrolled in Symphonic Wind Ensemble during the spring semester.
Requirements
Solos do not need to be memorized. The participants should provide their own accompanist.
Repertoire
Standard or rental. Please have knowledge of score and parts availability prior to your audition. Winner(s) must perform the same repertoire as auditioned.
