Audition for Symphonic Wind Ensemble
Membership in the VCU Symphonic Wind Ensemble is determined by auditions that are open to all qualified students. These auditions take place the first week of each semester and are heard by the conductors and the appropriate applied music faculty.
Each audition is five minutes in length. Students are requested to perform the appropriate excerpt for their instrument, listed below.

Audition dates
Auditions are held at the beginning of each fall and spring semester. You must sign up for a time on the winds and percussion bulletin board in the first floor Singleton Center hallway near the Department of Music office. We attempt to group auditions by instrument, to the extent that it is practical, to minimize the overall time commitment for applied faculty. Make every attempt to sign up during the time slots designated for your instrument.
Warm-up space will be provided in room B-40. Those students wishing to audition for both Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the VCU Symphony Orchestra may do so with one audition.
