WORN GALLERY

WORN Gallery, one of Richmond's first mobile galleries, is an exhibition space which is “worn” on a group of individuals in various arrangements. We are dedicated to showing artists who push the boundries of small scale art. This conceptual space challenges the artists to become more aware of a material’s characteristics and it's impact on the audience.

The location of the gallery in not confined to a single location, it changes to wherever the host/wearer is. Public viewing is only possible by attending arranged events and chance meetings. Opening nights and viewing times may be at more than one location, or constantly on the move, the gallery attracts audiences with its innovative exhibition style and becomes a memorable part of many local events and other gallery openings.

Sister Galleries

Locker 50b is committed to promoting the support of small art everywhere!  We encourage you to create your own gallery, and become a member of our Sister Galleries.  A broken or unused locker is a great space to hold exhibitions.  Don't be afraid to get creative - once you start thinking about it, you will notice all kinds of small spaces that could be transformed into a gallery. See our Do-It-Yourself page for instructions.

Calling All High School Teachers!

Locker 50b challenges you and your students to create your own locker gallery.  This is a great opportunity to school your students in the inner workings of running an exhibition space!  Challenge them to take on the fun and responsibility of organizing exhibitions, installing work, maintaining the space, and promoting the gallery.  This could be a great project for an art club or advanced art class.

If you create a small gallery, please email information and pictures to Erin Neff at neffel@vcu.edu, and she will post it on this website.
