The emphasis of this BA Cinema degree is the style and content of US independent film which is often closely aligned with European Cinema.

INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVALS

Based upon your language skills and interests, VCUarts Cinema will work with our

international university partners in the OIE , Office of International Education, to place our advanced students in festivals and independent cinema productions in Mexico, Spain, Italy and France.

 

La FEMIS Film Production Program


La FEMIS, the leading advanced film school in France and one of the leading schools in Europe, offers BA Film majors study opportunities at its Paris facilities. French language competency and completion of the BA Film degree is required. In the Spring semester of 2008 (and in subsequent Spring terms when possible) La FEMIS faculty and recent graduates came to Richmond and shot a short film in 35mm with VCU Cinema students based on the screenplay written by a Cinema Program student.

The largest festival of new French films outside of France.

Internships
These recommended work experiences with professional film organizations are available for advanced BA Film students on a competitive basis including the Virginia Film Office, the State's liaison with Hollywood production companies and independent filmmakers, independent production companies.
