Undergraduate Studies
Overview
The Department of Art History offers two undergraduate curriculum tracks, through which students gain a strong foundation in historical, theoretical, and practical aspects of studying the history of visual arts and/or architectural history. Students who major in Art History are prepared to pursue graduate study that leads to careers including traditional professional paths such as teaching, research, and gallery or museum work as well as careers in conservation and restoration, historic preservation, library special collections, appraisal, art consulting, and curatorial work.
An abundance museums and galleries in the Richmond area hold a broad range of collections and offer opportunities for research, internships, and volunteer experiences. Fieldwork and study abroad programs are also available to interested students.
