Program Overview
The Department of Art Education at Virginia Commonwealth University offers children and young adults ages 5-13 years old exciting creative learning experiences in our Saturday Art School. The program provides an opportunity for children and young adults to experience visual arts instruction in supportive small group settings. Activities involve art making processes and are designed around a new theme each session. Taught by our “rising star” art educators, classes take place over two 4-week sessions and conclude with an exhibition and open house.

First Day of Classes
On the first day of class for each session, Saturday Art School staff will stand in front of the Franklin Terrace building holding signs to help you find us. On the day of the first class, parents should come upstairs with their child to visit our classrooms between 9:30-10:15 am to meet the teachers, view classroom set-up, and/or listen to class instruction. Classes end at noon.
Drop Off and Pick Up
Our classrooms will be open at 9:30am so feel free to bring your child anytime after that. Classes begin at 10am and end at noon. Please come to the 3rd floor lobby to pick up your child.
For security measures, we ask that you present any form of government issued photo identification (i.e. driver’s license) when picking up your child. We will release the children to only those names listed on the registration form.
