RESEARCH AND SCHOLARLY INTERESTS
I am responsible for the direction of the Microscopy Facility that provides VCU investigators with the
equipment and expertise required to examine subcellular details at high resolution by light and electron
microscopy as well as perform quantitative image analysis. Expertise includes: confocal laser scanning
microscopy, multi-photon (2-photon) laser scanning microscopy, wide-field fluorescence microscopy,
electron microscopy, live cell imaging, FRET (fluorescence resonance energy transfer), FRAP
(fluorescence recovery after photobleaching), immunolocalization (immuno-fluorescence, immuno-gold),
fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), digital deconvolution and 2D & 3D image analysis.
