The
Department of Assurance Services is a service unit established
to assist the Virginia Commonwealth University Board of Visitors,
the VCU Health System Authority Board of Directors, and senior
management in providing the best education and healthcare
to students, patients, and the community. The Department of
Assurance Services provides this assistance through:
- Independent reviews of financial, operational, and information
systems to evaluate whether resources are utilized
in accordance with institutional mission, goals, and
strategies;
- Special projects in partnership with management to
develop systems and processes that are effective and
efficient; and
- Education and training for employees regarding the
need for and characteristics of appropriate systems
of control.
The underlying
premise of our work is that the University and Health System
Authority, as leaders in the dynamic environments of higher
education and healthcare, must function at the highest levels.
The Department of Assurance Services must support those responsibilities
with proactive and innovative services provided in an objective
manner. The
Department of Assurance Services is compromised of the following
