E-mail

For students

In summer 2009, VCU introduced all new students to myVCUmail, VCU’s new e-mail service powered by Google. myVCUmail allows students to take advantage of Google’s e-mail, productivity and collaboration tools while maintaining their “eID”@vcu.edu e-mail address.

Now it is the other students’ turn! Existing students will be moved from the VCU Mail Anywhere system to myVCUmail beginning Sept. 7, 2009. Accounts to be migrated are for those students who do not have full-time employee status with either the university or VCU Health System. Active students who are also employees and have student-only accounts will be migrated to myVCUmail on a case-by-case basis at a later date. Student e-mail data on VCU Mail Anywhere will be available until June 30, 2010.

For more information and the migration schedule for this fall, please visit http://mymail.vcu.edu.

For faculty and staff

VCU Mail Anywhere is a Web interface for students, faculty and staff to access their VCU Lotus Notes e-mail and calendar from a browser such as Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. VCU Mail Anywhere requires a Notes account and a Java-enabled browser. It is not necessary to configure your browser to access your mail or calendar. VCU Mail Anywhere runs on multiple servers for redundancy.

Other services

All Lotus Notes, IMAP or Mail Anywhere users will continue to access their e-mail as they always have. Faculty and staff will remain with the Lotus Notes service.

Lotus Notes If you have not upgraded to the new Lotus Notes 8.5 client, Technology Services encourages you to do so now. The new client features threaded e-mail conversations, in-line spell checking, Day At-A-Glance view and many more new features. Please contact the Technology Services help desk at (804) 828-2227 for more information.
